  The University of Arizona has provided care to HIV-infected individuals since 1981.
  The Special Immunology Program has been serving the community since 1994.
  The Special Immunology Program works closely with the Infectious Diseases Fellowship Program and the educational efforts of the Arizona Aids Education and Training Center. Specifically, patients are followed longitudinally by Faculty and Fellows of the University of Arizona Infectious Diseases Section in clinics at UMC and UPH hospitals. SIP sponsors CME-approved courses on many aspects of HIV management and care throughout the city of Tucson. In addition a considerable number of outreach programs to the lay public and PLWAs are provided under the aegis of SIP by Faculty and Fellows.
  Patient Care:
  Outpatient and in-hospital care of HIV-infected adults and counseling services to families and spouses of patients. A clinic for HIV-infected adults is held twice weekly at the University Medical Center in St. Lukes of the Desert Clinic. Clinic Location
  Residency Training:
  Conducting a program of HIV training and education for Medical Students, Interns, and Residents in Medicine and Family and Community Medicine. More Information
  Tucson HIV Grand Rounds:
  A monthly meeting coordinated and sponsored by the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center, in cooperation with the Arizona AIDS Education and Training Center, to address current issues in the treatment of HIV infected individuals.  This activity is held 8 times per year at different venues.  This program is targeted towards Physicians, Nurses, Mid-level practitioners (NPs and PAs), Pharmacists, Dentists and Mental Health Providers.  If you have any interest in attending please contact Dr. Stephen Klotz at SKlotz@u.arizona.edu.
  Outreach Education:
  An HIV/AIDS information program in the Tucson Junior and Senior High Schools. Education and outreach to Health Care Professionals and other community agencies on HIV related issues.
  Clinical and Basic Science Research:
  The program conducts research into patient care and maintains current molecular biology research on fungal infections of AIDS patients.
